Bisco Smith

b. 1980

Bisco Smith, born in 1980, is a visual artist with roots in music, graffiti and street art who lives and works in Queens, New York, and maintains ties to Los Angeles. He graduated from Pratt Institute in 2002 with a BFA in communications design. Working in largely black-and-white palettes on canvas and large outdoor murals, he uses household and aerosol paint to build abstracted, lyric-based text he describes as visual freestyle. Solo presentations include Innerstates at DTR Modern, New York (2024) and Human Kind at Underdogs, Lisbon (2025).
