Daniel Arsham

American, b. 1980

Born in Cleveland in 1980 and raised in Miami, Daniel Arsham works between sculpture, architecture, film and performance, and is based in New York. His sculptures present contemporary objects, among them cameras, cassette players and sports equipment, as eroded and mineralised artefacts, casting recent material culture as future archaeology. He also makes stage designs, having collaborated with Merce Cunningham and Robert Wilson, and in 2007 co-founded the studio Snarkitecture with Alex Mustonen. His work is held by the Centre Pompidou in Paris, MoMA PS1 in New York and the National Gallery of Victoria in Melbourne.
