Harland Miller

Harland Miller was born in Yorkshire in 1964 and studied at Chelsea School of Art, graduating with an MA in 1988. He lives and works in London and is both a painter and a writer, having published the novel Slow Down Arthur, Stick to Thirty. Since his first Penguin book painting in 1992 he has made large canvases based on paperback dust jackets, with invented, often sardonic titles, alongside the Letter Paintings drawn from illuminated medieval manuscripts. York Art Gallery has held two exhibitions of his work and holds paintings he donated in 2025.
