Magne Furuholmen, born in 1962, is a Norwegian artist, musician and composer who has worked professionally as a visual artist since 1989. Printmaking and sculpture are central to his practice, which draws on literature and language, using self-written and autobiographical text, references to art history and to historical events, and Latin as a recurring element. Words and statements, handwritten or set in stylised lettering, are combined with fields of colour and hard linear divisions, usually within series organised around a single conceptual premise. Since 2008 he has been part of the cross-disciplinary artist collective Apparatjik.
