Marc Sijan, born in 1946 and of Serbian descent, is a sculptor based in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, where he works in the city's Bay View neighbourhood. He received a BFA in sculpture from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee in 1971. Working within hyperrealism, he makes life-size figures of people drawn from all walks of life, rendered with wrinkles, veins, individual hairs, moles and close attention to skin colour, texture and bodily proportion. His work has been shown in more than sixty solo museum exhibitions, including presentations in Europe, Asia and the Middle East.
