Miles Jaffe was born in Berkeley, California, in 1958 and lives and works in Bridgehampton, New York. He received a BFA in industrial design from the Rhode Island School of Design in 1980 and designs, engineers and fabricates his sculptures himself, using sheet metal, polymer, pigment and 3D-printed components. His conceptual practice draws on Pop art and institutional critique through ongoing bodies of work including Artists' Colors, oversized paint tubes built around colour idioms; Notes to Self, enlarged push-pinned studio notes; and Matchbooks advertising imagined businesses run by art-world figures.
