Mr. Brainwash

Mr. Brainwash is the working name of Thierry Guetta, born in 1966 in Garges-lès-Gonesse, a suburb north of Paris, and now based in Los Angeles. He began by filming street artists including Space Invader, Shepard Fairey, Zevs and Banksy before making his own work, which combines pop culture and historical imagery with painted slogans across paintings, sculptures and multimedia installations. His first exhibition, Life is Beautiful, took place in Los Angeles in 2008, followed by a New York pop-up in 2018 and the Mr Brainwash Art Museum in the former Paley Center for Media building in Beverly Hills.
