Nelson De La Nuez was born in 1959 in Havana, Cuba, came to the United States at the age of seven and was raised in Glendale, California. He studied art history and began working in collage in 1982, juxtaposing canonical artists with advertising, board games and pop-culture imagery. His mixed-media paintings, often continued around all four sides of the canvas, address wealth, fame, commerce and consumer excess through satire. He founded the online Museum of Humor Art, and has held solo exhibitions including Made in the USA at The National Arts Club, New York.
