Eden Kozokaro, who works as Kozo, is a contemporary artist and globally recognized tattoo innovator whose micro-realism has reshaped both the fine-art and tattoo worlds. He began drawing, sculpting and painting in childhood in Israel, and at seventeen picked up a tattoo machine — bought on eBay, practiced on willing friends in a bedroom studio — and taught himself the craft. Over seven years he developed a style defined by extraordinary control, velvety gradients and meticulous detail.
He moved to New York in 2020, joined Bang Bang Tattoo, and later opened his own Brooklyn studio. His micro-realism portraits and pop-culture motifs drew a following of more than a million people.
In recent years Kozo has returned to painting and drawing, carrying the discipline of the tattoo into mixed media and tattoo ink on paper. The results are meditative and exact — deliberate, perfected strokes that honour the ceremonial origins of tattooing, from Japanese irezumi onward, while sitting squarely in contemporary fine art.
Kozo's first fine-art gallery presentation came with a solo showing at the National Arts Club in New York in 2024, followed by exhibitions in Palm Beach, Boston, and at 458 West Broadway in SoHo.
